Cycle-A-Thon Benefits Jack's Place
The Gypsum Recreation Center will be the site of a day-long cycle-a-thon on Saturday to raise funds for Jack's Place at the Shaw Regional Cancer Center in Edwards. The event now in its fourth year is being organized by fitness instructor-personal trainer Amy Klunzinger to draw attention to her passion for fitness health and helping others.
Saturday's cycle-a-thon will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $15 per person for the day. All proceeds benefit Jack's Place which provides safe convenient and comfortable day and overnight accommodations for cancer patients and their caregivers or family members while patients are receiving treatment at the Shaw Regional Cancer Center.
All fitness levels are welcome to take part in the cycle-a-thon and members of the recreation center as well as non-members are encouraged to take part. Admission fees for non-members will be waived for cycle-a-thon participants. Sign-ups may be made in advance or the day of the event. There are openings for as many as 20 spinners each hour throughout the day along with raffle prizes. Spinners are welcome to take part for an hour or as long as they'd like. Individual pledges are encouraged as well. An after-party will take place at the Dusty Boot at Eagle Ranch following the event at 6:30 p.m.
