The Vail Valley Medical Center Laboratory is located on the second floor of the hospital and is open 24 hours/day, seven days/week. Outpatients are welcome from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, 7 days/week. 
The laboratory's team of experts include board-certified pathologists, accredited medical technologists and skilled laboratory assistants, who are available for consultations, questions and educational seminars. The laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and offers a broad in-house pathology and blood work menu to best serve the needs of our patients and physicians.

The results for most tests are available the same or next day and are provided to your physician.

If your doctor orders a blood sugar, chemistry profile, lipid profile, cholesterol or triglyceride test, do not eat for 10 hours prior to having your blood drawn. Call the lab at (970) 479-7280 if you are unsure about other tests.
Yes, the lab needs a physician's written request before we can collect or perform any test. Physicians can mail, fax or phone orders to the laboratory. Phone orders must be followed up by a written request.

Appointments are not necessary for most outpatient services; however, please call (970) 479-7280 to make an appointment for the following services:
   Therapeutic phlebotomies
    Male fertility testing
    Organ donor screening tests that need to be sent to a special laboratory as indicated by your physician.
