Research is an integral part of Vail Valley Medical Center's mission to provide superior health services with compassion and exceptional outcomes. Our goal is to offer specialized care supported by comprehensive research and education. Many of our physicians and staff have pursued in-depth research and written articles that have been published in the world's top medical journals. Howard Head Sports Medicine develops extensive therapy protocols for rehabilitation, setting new standards for research and innovation in the physical therapy field worldwide. In addition, the research and experience of our partners at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute have led to significant advances in the fields of orthopaedics and sports medicine.
In 2016, Vail Valley Medical Center conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment 2016 (pdf) with a detailed analysis of the current state of health in Eagle County. This information compares both local survey findings regarding perceived health needs among residents with state and national benchmarks to help identify community health needs. The analysis assists in determining areas of community health importance and potential areas for either improvement to current practice or novel endeavors for the organization to address community health needs.
In response to the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment, the Community Health Implementation Plan (CHIP) was drafted to provide considerations for action, consistent with the mission and vision of Vail Valley Medical Center while taking into account the current healthcare climate. Included in the CHIP are potential implementation strategies as well as surveillance metrics, when applicable, used to monitor progress and demonstrate Vail Valley Medical Center's continued commitment to meet the healthcare needs of Eagle County.
