Breast Reconstruction

Vail Health’s plastic surgery team specializes in breast reconstructive surgery for cancer survivors. Working closely with Shaw Cancer Center, we strive to offer a personalized experience from each patient's first consultation, through surgery and beyond. Plastic surgery is not just about looking better but also about improving the body's form and function — and enhancing overall quality of life.

Face & Body Surgery

Facial Trauma

Vail Health’s plastic surgery team works closely with the Emergency Department and with urgent care locations across our system to provide treatment for trauma-related facial lacerations, broken noses and scar revision.

Mohs Surgery

We also collaborate with Colorado Mountain Medical’s (CMM) dermatology team on a variety of services including Mohs surgeries to treat skin cancer. CMM offers an in-office, non-surgical and non-invasive laser treatment for a variety of cosmetic enhancements.

Cosmetic Services

Vail Health offers cosmetic services and treatments including minimally invasive body contouring, liposuction, Botox®and dermal fillers.

Body Contouring

Vail Health offers awake, in-office body contouring using the VASERlipo® ultrasonic system. In-office body contouring can be a much less stressful way to contour and improve your body. Patients are treated with local anesthetics and remain conscious throughout the procedure. Body contouring procedures are commonly done on the arms, chest, chin and neck, upper back, waistline, hips, thighs and buttocks.

Benefits of an awake, in-office body contouring procedure include:

  • EASIER RECOVERY: After an awake, in-office liposuction procedure, patients are able to walk with a caretaker to the car within 15 to 20 minutes after completion of the procedure. Since patients take oral medications for procedure, they will not be able to drive home and will need to have a responsible adult caretaker with them for 24 hours after the procedure.
  • LOWER OVERALL COST: Surgical facilities and anesthesiologists’ fees can add cost to cosmetic procedures at other locations, but in-office procedures do not require an anesthesiologist or hospital operating room, which lowers out-of-pocket expense.
  • DECREASED RISK OF INFECTION: Data shows that procedures completed while patients are awake in the office have a lower risk of postoperative infections and complications. While this is true across all procedure types, individual responses may vary. Overall, choosing an in-office, awake procedure is a very safe choice.
We keep the safety and comfort of patients in mind and encourage patients to choose their own music to listen to during body contouring. Since patients are awake, we are able to communicate and answer questions at all times throughout the procedure. With the use of local anesthetics, times of discomfort are usually brief and limited.
