Vail Valley Medical Center is a 58-bed, community hospital serving residents and visitors from around the world. Accredited by the Joint Commission and designated by the State of Colorado as a Level III Trauma Center, VVMC provides a wide array of medical services in Vail, Avon, Beaver Creek, Edwards, Eagle and Gypsum. We are also home to Howard Head Sports Medicine, the internationally renowned Steadman Clinic, Steadman Philippon Research Institute and Vail-Summit Orthopaedics. In addition, Shaw Regional Cancer Center, the region's only fully accredited cancer treatment center and comprehensive breast center, is a service of Vail Valley Medical Center.
Founded in 1965, Vail Valley Medical Center is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) governed by a Board of Directors composed of community and hospital leaders. With 104 full-time and affiliated physicians and 885 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, VVMC is one of the largest employers in the Vail Valley.
