Starting Hearts is a local nonprofit dedicated to saving lives by increasing awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) through free Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training and access programs.
Founder Lynn Blake is an SCA survivor and resident of the Vail Valley, who attributes her saved life to CPR and early defibrillation. She now travels in “The Heart Rod," a decommissioned transit bus that has been converted to a CPR/AED classroom on wheels, teaching people how to save lives. Starting Hearts’ programs encourage participants to immediately recognize SCA and to CALL. PUSH. SHOCK.™
