Beaver Creek Emergency Department
Description: Assist Emergency Room staff at Beaver Creek ED with non-clinical tasks and offer patients and their families assistance as directed. This position is available during ski season. Eagle Care Clinic
Description: To support VVMC offices with administrative and non-clinical tasks
Schedule: M-F; as needed
Skills Required: Ability to work with minimum supervision in a busy, sometimes noisy, healthcare environment, demonstrate good customer service skills, possess excellent communication skills, physical ability to withstand periods of sitting and walking. Spanish skills helpful.
Emergency Room

Description: To offer guests, patients, and employees an opportunity to purchase gifts, candy, and merchandise while at Vail Valley Medical Center. All proceeds benefit the Vail Valley Medical Center. Schedule: 10:00-4:00pm. M-F Skills Required: Comfortable working on the computer, exchanging monies, working independently
Hospitality Cart
Description: Offers cookies and beverages to patients on the Patient Care Unit and Women’s and Children’s Center Schedule: Wednesdays, 2-4pm Skills Required: Outgoing and friendly, comfortable being in the hospital environment and around people who are ill, able to move 30 lbs, ability to maintain confidentiality
Patient Care Unit
Description: Volunteers on the patient care unit support staff in providing a high level of compassionate, patient centered care. Volunteer duties range from stocking supplies, preparing patients for meals, visiting with patients, answering nurse call pagers, and contributing to a healing environment. Schedule: M-Th 12-5pm, 5-7pm; 3 shifts per month Skills Required: Compassionate, outgoing, supportive, ability to maintain confidentiality, committed, comfortable interacting with people who are ill or just coming out of surgery, ability to take directions and to work as a team member and independently.
Shaw Information Desk
Description: Greets all patients and guests and assists by escorting them to various areas of the center and provides information pertaining to the Shaw Cancer Center and other clinics and services. May also make appointment reminder calls for the Sonnenalp Breast Imaging Center. Schedule: Days, M-F 9-2 Skills Required: Outgoing, high level of customer service, ability to escort patients to locations, comfortable being around people who are ill.
Shaw Resource Library
Description: To be a helpful volunteer for the librarian. To learn the basics of how a medical library functions on a daily basis and assist with projects as necessary. Schedule: Flexible, as needed Skills Required: Detail oriented, computer skills, understanding and caring individual with patients, family members and the general public with cancer
Sonnenalp Breast Diagnostic Imaging Center
Description: Assist guests and staff as needed. Duties may include offering coffee and tea to patients who are waiting, helping to create a calm environment, and visiting with patients. Schedule: M & T 9-2 or later. Skills Required: Compassionate, ability to listen and not offer advice, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to take directions and to work as a team member and independently.
Special Events
Description: Helps with volunteer and hospital fundraisers and special events. Tasks could range from serving as a committee chair, helping out on a committee, to working the day of the events. Schedule: Varies Skills Required: Organized, energetic, self-starter
Vail Information Desk
Description: Assist guests by escorting them to various areas of the hospital and by providing information pertaining to Vail Valley Medical Center, its clinics and services. Greets all patients and guests and manages complimentary services in the lobby. Schedule: Regular 2 or more times per month - days, evenings, or weekends (M-F 9-1, 1-5, 5-7) Sat, Sun 12-5. Description: Office work, making thank you phone calls, database entry Schedule: Days M-F, Flexible Skills Required: Detail oriented, personable, comfortable talking on the phone, and working on the computer.
