Food & Nutrition

FoodThe mission of VVMC's Food and Nutrition department is to improve patients' lives through quality nutritional care and expert education. We provide our in-patients with wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals that enhance their treatment and recovery. In addition, our goal is to educate patients on nutrition and health to help them make good decisions and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

At Your Request-Room Service Dining
Vail Valley Medical Center features At Your Request-Room Service Dining®, a complimentary meal preparation and delivery service for patients. Food can be ordered any time between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM and will be delivered within 45 minutes directly to the patient's room. A full menu is available in each in-patient room, and special meals are prepared for those with restricted diets. Clinical dietitians are available for questions or counseling regarding restricted diets for inpatients. To learn more, call (970) 479-5058.

Outpatient Food & Nutrition Counseling
While research continues to show that a nutritious diet can be the best medicine for reducing the risk of disease, there are hundreds of health claims, which can be confusing and overwhelming. Our registered clinical dietitians work one-on-one with patients to develop personal eating plans for specific nutritional needs and lifestyles. Our dietitians provide counseling for many conditions, including cancer, diabetes and eating disorders, cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal problems, as well as for personal wellness, prenatal and pediatric care, sports nutrition and weight management. Some insurance plans cover dietitian consultations when ordered by a physician. Patients are encouraged to call their insurance carrier to find out if their plan covers this service. To schedule an appointment with one of our registered dietitians, call (970) 479-5058.

Remedies Café
Remedies Café is located on the lower level of the hospital and provides delicious home-style meals, including daily specials, homemade soups, a grill menu and a salad bar. Guests can also choose from snacks and a "Simply To Go" cooler with a selection of salads, sandwiches and cold treats. In addition, vending machines are located in the hallway just outside the cafeteria, accessible 24 hours/day. Remedies Café is second on the list of "9 Hospitals with Food That's Worth Eating!"
