Volunteer Positions
Our current volunteer opportunities are varied and include:
Description: Assist Avon Urgent Care Staff with
non-clinical tasks and offer patients and families assistance as
directed.
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday, 9 AM
to 1 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM
Skills Required: Compassionate, outgoing,
supportive, able to maintain confidentiality, committed,
comfortable interacting with people who are ill or in crisis, able
to take directions and to work as a team member as well as
independently.
Description: Assist Emergency Department
staff at Beaver Creek Medical Center with non-clinical tasks and
offer patients and families assistance as directed. This
position is available during the ski/snowboard season only.
Schedule: Holiday weeks, Sunday through Saturday,
10 AM to 4 PM; regular season hours, Friday through Sunday, 12
PM to 4 PM
Skills Required: Compassionate, outgoing,
supportive, able to maintain confidentiality, committed,
comfortable interacting with people who are ill or in crisis, able
to take directions and to work as a team member as well as
independently.
Description: To support Eagle Care Clinic
with administrative and non-clinical tasks.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, as
needed
Skills Required: Able to work with minimum
supervision in a busy, sometimes noisy, health care environment;
demonstrate good customer service skills; possess excellent
communication skills; physically withstand periods of sitting and
walking. Spanish-speaking skills helpful.
Description: Assist Emergency Room Staff at
VVMC with non-clinical tasks and offer patients and families
assistance as directed. This position is available during the
ski/snowboard season only.
Schedule: Sunday through Saturday, noon to 5
PM.

comfortable interacting with people who are ill or in crisis, able
to take directions and to work as a team member and
independently.
Description: Offer guests, patients and
employees an opportunity to purchase gifts, candy and merchandise
while at the hospital. All proceeds benefit Vail Valley
Medical Center.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10 AM-4 PM
Skills Required: Comfortable working on the
computer, exchanging monies and working independently.
Description: Offer cookies and beverages
to patients on the Patient Care Unit and Women and Children's
Center.
Schedule: Wednesday, 2 to 4 PM
Skills Required: Outgoing and friendly,
comfortable being in the hospital environment and around people who
are ill, able to move 30 pounds and able to maintain
confidentiality.
Description: Volunteers on the patient
care unit support staff in providing a high level of compassionate,
patient-centered care. Volunteer duties range from stocking
supplies, preparing patients for meals, visiting with patients,
answering nurse call pagers and contributing to a healing
environment.
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, noon to 5
PM, 5 PM to 7 PM; three shifts per month.
Skills Required: Compassionate, outgoing,
supportive, able to maintain confidentiality, committed,
comfortable interacting with people who are ill or just coming out
of surgery, able to take directions and to work as a team member as
well as independently.
Description: Greet patients and guests,
escort them to various areas of the center and provide information
pertaining to Shaw Regional Cancer Center and other clinics and
services. May also make appointment reminder calls for the
Sonnenalp Breast Imaging Center.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9 AM
to 2 PM
Skills Required: Outgoing, high level of
customer service, able to escort patients to locations and
comfortable being around people who are ill.
Description: Be a helpful volunteer for
the librarian. Learn the basics of how a medical library
functions on a daily basis and assist with projects as
necessary.
Schedule: Flexible, as needed.
Skills Required: Detail-oriented, computer
literate, and understanding and caring of patients, family members
and the general public.
Description: Assist guests and staff as
needed. Duties may include offering coffee and tea to patients
who are waiting, helping to create a calm environment and visiting
with patients.
Schedule: Monday and Tuesday, 9 AM to 2
PM or later.
Skills Required: Compassionate, able to
listen and not offer advice, able to maintain confidentiality, able
to take directions and to work as a team member as well as
independently.
Description: Help with volunteer and
hospital fundraisers and special events. Tasks could include
serving as a committee chair, helping on a committee and/or working
the day of the events.
Schedule: Varies
Skills Required: Organized, energetic and
self-starter.
Description: Assist guests by escorting them to
various areas of the hospital and by providing information
pertaining to Vail Valley Medical Center, its clinics and
services. Greet all patients and guests and manage
complimentary services in the lobby.
Schedule: Regular two or more times per
month; days, evenings or weekends; Monday through Friday, 9 AM
to 1 PM, 1 to 5 PM, 5 to 7 PM; Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5
PM.
Skills Required: Outgoing, high level of
customer service, able to escort patients to locations and
comfortable being around people who are ill or just out of
surgery.
Description: Assist with administrative
duties such as filing or entering data.
Schedule: Monday through Friday,
flexible.
Skills Required: Detail-oriented,
comfortable working with computers and other office equipment.
