IGRT Linear Accelerator Campaign

Thank you for your interest in helping us raise $3.5 million to acquire a new Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) Linear Accelerator for Shaw Regional Cancer Center.

The new Linear Accelerator will replace our existing accelerator, now 10 years old, and will help insure Shaw Regional Cancer Center remains on the leading edge of treatment capacities.

Please excuse the temporary construction and relocation of parking related to the installation of this new equipment.

Image guided radiation therapy is the latest technology now available for cancer patient care. The IGRT Linear Accelerator:

• Increases our medical team’s ability to locate tumors more precisely before each treatment — a feature not available in the current accelerator.
• Delivers radiation to cancerous tissue more accurately.
• Enhances the ability to expose a tumor to the maximum dose of radiation while minimizing radiation to healthy tissues.

Our goal is to make this latest technology available for patient care by September 2013. Please help us.
