About Us
We are the sum of the Surgical experience at Vail Valley Medical Center. After you and your surgeon have decided on surgery you will see a nurse in Pre-Admission Testing. She will review your test results and possible risk factors prior to the day of surgery. The nurse will also give you your instructions for the day of surgery. The day of surgery you will report to Pre-op where you will be prepped for surgery. The nurses in Pre-op will start an IV (inter venous line) and will assist you with any pre-op scrub of the surgical site. At the time of surgery your surgical nurse will come to take you to your OR. We have four OR’s at the Vail Valley Medical Center. Your nurses (Pre-op and OR) will check your 'vital statistics' with you consisting of two patient identifiers, name and date of birth, your consent, (correct site and side) as well as correct operation. After that your Circulating nurse will take you to the OR. Following your surgery you will wake up in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The people who you approve will be allowed into the PACU as soon as you are ready for visitors.
