Howard Head - Occupational Therapy
Howard Head Sports Medicine occupational therapy department provides both Inpatient and Outpatient hand therapy services.
The goal of occupational therapy (OT) is to facilitate return to purposeful or functional activity following physical or neurological injury. Treatment includes retraining in activities of daily living (ADL’s), strength and endurance training, cognitive retraining, and use of adaptive equipment/assistive devices. Therapeutic intervention also includes restoration of hand and upper extremity function.
Our therapists have specialized knowledge of upper extremity function. Using specialized skills in assessment and treatment, hand therapists work with their clients to prevent injury or impairment, restore functional activity, and enhance participation in daily life. Our team of therapists work closely with the physician to provide continuity of care often immediately after surgery through patient’s return to active / productive lifestyle.
