Howard Head - Oncology Therapy

Recent research has demonstrated that patients who remain physically active while they are undergoing treatment for cancer have fewer negative side effects from the treatments of radiation and chemotherapy.  Howard Head Sports Medicine has teamed up with the physicians at the Shaw Regional Cancer Center to provide an integrative approach to treating patients during both treatment and recovery.

Physical therapy goals in the oncology setting are based on an individual’s diagnosis.  These goals commonly include:

  • Improving range of motion after surgery
  • Generalized strengthening
  • Core strengthening
  • Lymphedema education
  • Improving cardiovascular function
  • Decreasing pain

Our oncology physical therapist, Christine Hasselback, DPT, CLT is a certified lymphedema therapist and provides complete decongestive therapy including massage, bandaging and exercises for patients with either upper extremity or lower extremity lymphedema.

Contact Christine at 970-569-7777 for more information or to make an appointment.
