Seasonal Housing
Vail Valley Medical Center (VVMC) invites you to join us for the 2009-2010 winter season. VVMC is a vital element of a unique resort community. We provide compassionate, quality health and wellness services both to our neighbors and to the many thousands of guests from around the world who visit for recreation. We promote a culture of collaboration within our organization and welcome those who are willing to participate in such an environment. Eligibility for our subsidized housing benefit during the period of employment is determined during the recruitment and hiring process. We have a limited number of beds available for the season and they are located throughout the community. All are within call distance of the main campus and all of our units are shared with other VVMC Seasonal Staff. The subsidized rent for the 2009-10 season is a fixed $550 per month per person. Utilities provided are heat, electricity, and standard cable television; if utilities exceed the listed amounts (Xcel $100.00, Holy Cross $85.00, and Comcast $59.00), the seasonal employee will cover the difference. On the signing of the employee lease agreement a $150.00 non refundable processing fee will be due and a $100 security deposit. Please note that a pro-rated amount of rent may be due to cover the time up to the employee’s first paycheck this is determined by your arrival date and the payroll cycle. VVMC subsidizes our housing to ensure availability and to reduce the out-of-pocket costs to the seasonal employee. Please be aware these expenses are significant as rental property in resort areas is comparable to expensive urban areas such as New York or San Francisco. Although we absorb most of the financial burden customarily required to set up a seasonal household, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has determined that any form of subsidy is considered income to the employee. The result is that we are required to report the difference between the rent we pay for a unit and the $550 employee rent as taxable income to the employee during occupancy. Please confer with a tax advisor to determine any potential personal affect. Our housing program is for VVMC employees only. We cannot accommodate non-employees. No animals of any type are permitted and all units are non-smoking.
